Rudder Stock, Copper(I)Oxide Coating

I coated the inner surface of the rudder stock with Cu2O. After curing, I found this strange crater in some places.
I had already discovered a similar structure on the PU coating when I painted the rudder blade with a paint roller.
What is the cause? A repelling pollution of the ground? Air bubbles dumped by the paint roller?
For the next coat I will use a different paint roller. Maybe it will help.
